I'm using skype,
with a blutrek g2 headset
and belkin f8t009 dongle
on win2k computer.

After a variable amount of time on the phone using this set up (5-15 minutes) the sound in my earpeice suddently turns into a horrendous static/white noise type sound, making all communication impossible.

If I disconnect the call it stops, but restarts immediately I reconnect.
If I disconnect the headset (in the bluetooth menu) and reconnect, it seems to be all right, but I may have to disconnect and recconect the call aswell to make it work again.

I have never managed to find out what happens at the other end (whether they can still hear me etc), people are never that precise, just say we got cut off.

Any help/ideas/thoughts?

John

After solving a different problem with skype (it insisted on muting me) I'm back to being stuck with this problem. I have however managed to discover that the person I'm talking to also hears the static/whitenoise aswell.

As before, disconnecting the headset and reconnecting appears to solve the problem but is far from ideal.

Any ideas?

Would you have any interference on your environment (microwave ovens, Wi-Fi, cordless phones on 2.4GHz band, baby monitors, hospital nearby)?

Is the Bluetooth adapter on your computer visible?

Is it attached to a HUB or to a USB port (these things don't like USB Hub)?

Is the Power Management unchecked (open Control Panel | System |Hardware | Device Manager, scroll down to Usb Root HUB and check the Power Management tab)?

No. I can't think that there is anything that would cause interference close (a microwave a couple of rooms away, and digital cordless phone that can be used without causing any interference).

Yes

It is attached directly (with an extension lead) to USB socket 2 on a PCI card.

Only one of the root hubs listed (and I don't think it is the right one) has this option, which is unchecked.

I've being playing around a bit more and tried securing the connection but it hasn't solved the problem. I have found that it can last longer without going wrong, possibly if it has already gone worng and been reconnected.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

John

Thanks, but I've read it a few times and I'm not sure how it is relevant.

I'm using a bluetooth headset with Skype to make voip calls, so need a headset with microphone, and I don't need hi-fi quality sound.

Thanks again
John
