As the subject says - I have a TDK bluetooth adapter and a Sony Clié.

Went through the guide (good job on the guide btw) and managed to establish a connection between the computer and the PDA (had to put in the script in the end as well).

Trouble is I can't ping anything and I'm unsure as to why.

When I check in the log I see:

Service name:	Network

Local IP address:	192.168.0.60

Gateway address:	0.0.0.0

DNS addresses:



		192.168.0.1

If I ping an address the IP always comes back as 164.1.164.0 as well.

Basically this is the setup I have at the moment:



PDA -> Bluetooth -> Laptop -> 100mbit LAN -> ADSL Router -> Internet

On the laptop I have bridged together (using Windows XP) the Bluetooth LAN Adapter and the 100mbit LAN Adapter.

If anyone has any experience with this I would be so so so grateful if you can help me with this.

Do you have any DNS entry in the Bluetooth adapter at all? You could try entering your ISP's DNS there.

And check your firewall - if any. Zone Alarm causes this kind of things.

cool a reply from the author of the guide :)

I've tried putting in the DNS of the ISP - still the same.

Not running any firewall of any kind here.

What do the logs look like for a connection that successfully work?

I'll have a Sony Clie UX50 (yes!) for review arriving today and will look at the logs for the Sony Palm OS - will keep you posted.

Ok, got the Sony Clie UX50 today, and connected to my Windows 2000 machine and to my Bluetooth LAN Access Point - both worked fine.

The LOG shows exactly the same as yours, except the IP address in my case is 192.168.0.113

I can ping and browse fine.

If you open the Command prompt and run IPCONFIG /ALL you'll see what's the DNS your computer is using - try using this on the Bluetooth adapter and give it a go.

wow a UX50 - cool!

do you get a gateway of 0.0.0.0 as well then?

it's probably the setup here in the office causing all these sorts of problems - I'm getting a TDK USB Bluetooth dongle for my computer at home. Will give it a try on that when I get it...

Well I finally got it working in the end! Seems like bridging the networks didn't work. Reason I couldn't internet share to the BT device before was because I already had ICS on the network taking up the 192.168.0.* address space - Windows warns you about this when you try and share to the BT network adapter but you can get around it by unplugging your computer from the local network.

But then it seems as though windows gets confused! (gateway is 192.168.0.1 and then the bluetooth adapter is set to 192.168.0.1).

In the end I turned off ICS and manually set up NAT and changed the address space of my local network, shared internet to the BT adapter and FINALLY the Clié got onto the internet.

Now onto my next query...

Is there a way of HotSync'ing over this network connection? Or will I have to disconnect and connect to BT serial connection?

If your Palm supports Network Hotsync (some don't, the lower end models), then it should work fine over the network.
