Hi all,
Im just wondering who can answer this easy peasy question for me:
If I have a Class One Adaptor on my computer and a Class 2 Bluetooth phone, will the bluetooth connection still work if the phone is more than 10 metres away from the computer?
And will it work approximately 100 metres away?

Not an easy question at all!

There are lots of discussion on this - I am have the firm idea that the range will be the shortest one, but some say the adapter with longer range will be able to pick the signal from the weakest adapter.

In any case, the maximum range is not what you always get. Some 10m adapters will work well up to 5 meters or less - it depends on environment, other devices around, etc...

Ok, well lets say best case scenario, ur in the middle of a field with nothing around for miles with a computer and a cell phone and you some how manage to get a nice power point there as well.

Since Bluetooth is a 2 way protocol logically the range will be limited by the least powerful transmitter.

It's a bit like a cellphone - quite often problems with coverage is not limited by the cellsite but by your phone. A cellsite may output 30w and be picked up fine by the a cellphone indoors but the 1w transmission of the cellphone as it's trying to transmit back may struggle to be received by the site.

Oh well, thanks for the help, I guess I'll just have to steal my mates Class 1 and give it a shot.
I'll let you guys know how that goes eventually.
