Fellow Geekers,

I've been bashing my head against the wall for the last couple weeks over this issue, I just can't figure it out! I have a Linksys WAG325N Wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway Router set up for Telecom broadband (correctly I thought) - but I'm having an intermittant issue with the Gateway dropping off, causing me to lose my internet access.  Most of the time I have to reboot the router to get the gateway up again.

Initially I was receiving an IP conflict message, but since changing my DHCP scope to 192.168.2.X I haven't recieved that message.

I've also noticed the gateway falls over when I attempt to transfer large amounts of data wirelessly over the network as well....

I have the latest firmware on the router.

I've attached a screenshot of the router's setup configuration

https://cdn.geekzone.co.nz/imagessubs/blog532aff2fa43649446e1441fba946afa7.jpg

Network setup:

WHS - static IP of 192.168.2.254
4 x wirelessly connected machines
4 x wirelessy connected iphones

Any suggestions would be massively appreciated!

Cheers

You mentioned getting an "IP Conflict" error during the initial setup and this stopped after changing the DHCP range. Was it the router or a PC that gave this error?

This type of error suggests that you may have more than one DHCP server running on your network. Needless to say, that wouldn't make for a happy network.

I would also suggest entering the DHCP server address.

Hi Oldhat,

It was a PC that the IP conflict error. This is the only DHCP running on my network.

I can't enter the DHCP server IP address - it seems to pick it up automatically (confirmed with ipconfig /all from the command prompt.

Any other ideas? I'm more concerned with the router failing when transferring gig's of data across the wireless network.

Let me know if you need any more info

A PC IP Conflict error in that case would suggest that some were running static IP addresses. I would suggest double checking all of the network interfaces to ensure that they are using DHCP.

From memory there were some comments on a similar internal network throughput issue on the Cisco forums with a different product.
