G'day, I have a spirit usb bluetooth adapter and a se t610. I can pair the devices, however i am having trouble sync'ing with outlook. When I go to my bluetooth places, I can view the phone but when i select discover services for the phone it reports no services found. This is with the phone with bluetooth turned on. I have tried sync'ing with outlook using xtnd connect (however it cannot find the phone even when a serial port is assigned to the bluetooth device), I have also tried it from the quick connect menu of the bluetooth software. The software version is 1.4.1 build 7 and the software that comes with the adapter installs it as a CSR USB bluetooth device. I've tried going through the guides but all to no avail. Any thoughts or ideas would be great!!!!!

Things you have to check when doing this:

  • Make sure the client COM port is the one selected and reserved. Right-click the Bluetooth icon in the system tray, select Advanced Configuration and change to the Client tab. The COM port here is the one you want to use.
  • For the first connection manually select the COM port, by finding the services on your phone and then connect to its Serial port icon. This will make your computer "learn" what device to look for when the COM port is to be open.
  • Install the Sync software after the Bluetooth installation, not before.
  • Disable any firewall you have on this computer as they do interfere with Bluetooth communications. If it works without the firewall software you'll have to consider creating appropriate rules to allow internal traffic to flow.

firstly thanks for the reply, i'm having problems in your second step. When i go to my bluetooth places it sees the phone, but when i click discover services no services come up. from there nothing works. i have absolutely no firewall and have tried numerous versions of xtnd connect.

Instead of clicking discover services, try double-clicking the icon. It'll open and try finding services. Make sure the T610 Bluetooth is ON, not off or discoverable.

Yep, it seems to do the same thing as discover services, still no success!!! so frustrating, when i go to the connectivity menu on the phone then bluetooth, options, phone services it comes up with a whole bunch of services. But they cant be seen from the computer. Also when i view the remote services (i.e. the services running on the computer) it only comes up with synchronization, object push and file transfer. however if i view my bluetooth services (on the computer this time) i can see a whole bunch including my bluetooth serial port, my file transfer etc etc.... any ideas???

Are you able to check if you're using the latest firmware on this phone?

i'm having the same problem with a sonyercisson z600 & win2000 so maybe it's the spirit bluetooth driver or a ms component.
does the spirit bluetooth adaptor have a website? all identifcation is blank in the "help about" panel

have just spoken with spiritmodems.com.au who passed me on to dick smith support.
this problem is a known issue & they have as yet not been able to get the adaptor to work with mobile phones (works fine with palm pdas apparently).
the device supplier has apparently been promising a new driver for several weeks but with little prospect of a near future solution.
advice was to return the adaptor for a refund

not yet, but i do have the docket & some packaging.
you should still have a good chance of a refund because they are defensive about releasing a product that on their admission is not suitable for sale.
