Hello whomever decides to read this..thanks for taking a look.

So my curiosity peaks and I want to know about the bluetooth world. I get a Tungsten T for a good price, but Im missing the software CD. I have attached a bluetooth dongle to my home PC, downloaded tons of software...and now here I sit looking for answers..I can sync my palm, but no internet or email..nothing but error messages. I have spent alot of time looking over all of the other messages. Maybe someone out there knows about the trials of setting up a hoime network with XP, a BT module, a TT pda, and the ever popular time warner cable cable internet connection..

What am I missing? what kind of applications does having bluetooth offer? How do I get the freakin connection to work? Im very curious, and very uneducated about computers etc..but I usually find my way..but this is a stumper.

Thanks for any ideas, encouraging comments, software suggestion, witty anecdotes, or set-up pointers..

Thanks Again

Bluetooth itself will not give you applications, but only the connections. You'll have to install a browser, a e-mail client, ICQ or what else on your Palm T.

Have a look in our Bluetooth Guides. There's an article explaining what you can do with Bluetooth, another one on how to configure some devices (including Palm) and even a checklist if the internet access does not work.

Things are looking up thanks for the reply.

Thru your divine intervention, I was able to finally access the internet via my devicce and a software called pocketlink. What I have discovered is that having my palm setup for syncing and LAN access seems to confuse things. When I sync first, then the browser wont work and vice versa. How is this problem alleviated?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Thanks Again

Are your trying to sync while still connect to the LAN access or connect to LAN while still connected to Hotsync?

This will not work, the Palm OS does not support more than one type of connection at the same time.

Ok, now I see where the issue is...I am now trying to find a decent browser software that supports security on websites..the previous one I spoke of does not..Web Pro seems to be the best one by description, but there is no demo for it it seems. I just tried Eudora and the interface is a bit dry, and confused my PDA.

Thanks again for all of your help. Hopefully this thread of emails will help someone else like me.

Web browser pro would have been on your CD
you can download this again from the Tungsten Yahoo group
here

you may need to join the group to download it.

for ICQ - the palm os software from icq.com client does not work. instead there is verichat, which you pay a subscription to use per year.

for email, versamail would have been on your CD. it's acceptable. Snapper mail is better, but it only does POP3.

another app to look for is SmbMate, which is completely free. (and open source). it lets you read and write to your windows shares (smb).

there were a number of patches that the TT needed. one for the non-responsive top right of screen, the other for the error when > 365 files in RAM. (and probably fixed other stuff i didn't notice).

also, be aware the TT suffers from "digitizer drift", and there doesn't seem to be a cure. Palm declare it's a 3rd party software problem, but i don't buy that. It's an OS problem.

have fun with your new toy!

Thanks for your reply, but I was unable to get the link to work, thought I did join the user group. Any further clarification on the link would be appreciated.

AS far as the CD goes, I purchased this unit used, and the cd was not available. I wish it were, as digging up all of the software without cost is becoming a bit of a chore.

Thanks Again for your time.
