I recently copied some MP3 files to a media player, but the order becomes all awry.

As an example, say I have 9 files named "01 xxx.mp3" through to 09 xxx.mp3".  After copying to the media player the files are all jumbled up on the playlist, and there doesn't appear to be any reason for this, viz. not odd numbers first or first alphabetical letter etc.

Any ideas please?

Whilst not important for 'one track, one song' situations, it's pretty neccessary for classical music where the order of each track should be as originaly composed Laughing

Cheers,

R.

Not sure if this is relevant but I have seen with a media player when the default playlist was formed in the order that the files were placed on the unit. Solution that worked for me was delete the files and then reload in the order I wanted them played.

Just a thought anyway.

Are the track numbers specified in the file metadata?

Thanks for replies .... I re-copied the files one at a time, and sure enough they aligned perfectly.

A lot of cheaper flash-based MP3 players play tracks in storage order - I've found that using mp3DirSorter to sort this out is a lot easier than having to re-copy the tracks one by one Wink.
