Just had an email from Kickstarter as I was a Pebble and Pebble Time backer.  There's new versions of both today, and a new type of wearable that we haven't seen before!

Check them out: https://www.pebble.com and https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/597507018/pebble-2-time-2-and-core-an-entirely-new-3g-ultra

I'll get the Time 2 for sure.  I've loved my original Pebble, and the Time is a great evolution on that idea.  The Time 2 with a bigger screen and better battery looks awesome.  I haven't dug into the other features yet but for $169USD on Kickstarter (with a bit of a wait granted) it's a superb deal based on the fact that I haven't gone a day without using my Pebbles for the last few years.  The Timeline software has come a hell of a long way in the last 12 months too.  Can't wait to see what it can do on new hardware

Interesting. I think I found my next Smartwatch from my Moto 360. I loved the Pebble Steel.

Already backed a time 2 and the core :)

smartwatch i can swim with will be good and I am hoping that the core can do offline spotify playlists.  Not to worried about the 3g part of it however.

But they are so ugly IMO, also why not just put the 3G in the watch so you don't need two devices?

I've backed the 2 and the core. Couldn't quite justify the additional pricing up to the Time 2. Love my current steel, but it's marginally too heavy for exercise and I'm hanging out for a mike.

Core will be interesting.

Each to their own right?  I love the look of the Pebble Time.  The original Pebble wasn't attractive, but it was more novelty factor at the time since it was the first to market that was actually decent.  It's the e-ink that sells me.  I don't need or want a chunky LCD display on my wrist that runs dry of battery in a day.  I think the Pebble Time is very classy and attractive as a wearable.  Good point on the 3G in the watch itself - but I imagine they're appealing to a much smaller market for the Core and having the tech in the watch that runs the core would easily bump up the size and reduce the battery.

Wouldn't go near a Pebble pre-order again after the crap I had to go through last time, very late delivery, split delivery and missing expedited freight with no responsibility.

Besides for me this was a "cheaper" way to get into an Apple watch type device, it was never going to be that so I went with the real thing.
