Just curious as to what you would buy if you had ~$5-6000 to spend. A new OLED TV? A top-end gaming laptop/tower? *

* Not indicative of what I myself am doing. :-)

A bit less than 1% of my house?

Might be time to replace the i7-2600K PC one of these years, and wouldn't mind upgrading the 55" TV to 65".

Splash cash? For toys? Olympus OM-D E-M1X

I just replaced my i7-2600 just a few weeks back. Upgraded to a Ryzen 7 with 32GB RAM. Sooo much better!

If I had a spare $5-6k to spend, I'd get one of the latest and greatest graphics cards, a 4k monitor, and a VR headset.

New mountainbike, finish my Civic.

Though I'm about to buy a house, so I'm currently not doing anything exciting with spare money, just keeping it aside.

I would go and buy those really expensive camouflage trousers, but I usually can never find any.

I'd put it toward a great solar / battery install.

Hmmm - decisions, decisions!

Adding it up, I would have spent about that on my new Gaming/media/everything PC + 11" iPad Pro just last month 😳

Should last me a while at least (Hah!) and TBF I did "downsize" my tech life in the process, selling my MacBook Pro, old iMac and old PC which funded around 60% of that outlay!

I already have my "perfect" (for now) 2 ch HiFi so don't need to invest in that for quite some time (I believe the current NZ list price of my speakers alone is around the magic $6k mark with the amp not far behind, but again - I didn't actually pay anywhere near that much after some wheeler-dealing and trade in!)

So if you were to give me that money today, I would probably finally make the move to 4k and OLED and replace my existing Sony TV (continues to serve me well TBH) for around $3k and then spend the remainder on a pair of Audeze LCD3 headphones and amp...

When can I expect the money in my account?

We came into a bit of extra cash a few months back and Mrs Floyd suggested we should each have a $2000 slush fund.  Here’s what I bought

  • 1 x Godox  TT685s + X1T remote transmitter - $260
  • 1 x Sigma 19mm f2.8DN A – used - $135
  • 1 x Sony 500mm f/8 reflex – used $350
  • 1 x Tamron SP150-600 f/5-6.3 DI USD – used $585  (what a bargain!!)
  • 2 x Philips 25B 258B6QUEB/75 25" USB Type-C QHD LED Monitors - $906 (for both)

Happy boy with new toys

(Slightly overspent but I also had some spare notes in a drawer and I can claim tax & GST back on the monitors.)

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
