My daughter won a Chromecast Ultra from a local youth group. She picked it up today and upon opening, found it came with a US plug - thought no problem, and plugged into an adaptor.

Google Home app can see the device and updated it but warns it was purchased overseas - get no image on the screen (Panasonic plasma).

So when I hit cast on my phone, I get no image or sound.

WHat am I missing? Or because it's US purchased, it's of no use?

Unless it's not actually booted right you should get standby image/clock.

Reboot it while the HDMI port it is in is selected to make sure.

Unless CEC is enabled you will still need to manually change inputs to it. But some content might get geoblocked to it (TNVZ/3 for instance. Mines a NZ unit so can't confirm)

Do you even get the google splash screen on power up? It seems to do that at low res without HDCP just fine, then will fail after that if the TV cant handshake with it.
