Hi there.

I currently have a number of Ring cameras monitoring the outside of our place. I also have the remnants of the old Morepork alarm system - all that we still have working now is the window/door sensors so the alarm goes off if someone opens a window or door while armed. We also have a hardwired internal motion sensing alarm built into the place with no monitoring option which therefore never gets used.

The Morepork alarm is reaching its end of usable life and occasionally the sensors are showing up Tamper alerts for no reason, which is a concern as this will potentially trigger the alarm and I’d rather not terrify our pets unnecessarily.

Are there any good Morepork replacements out there that function as an alarm for windows/doors etc? Ideally I’d be able to use the Ring one which would mean all one ecosystem designed to work together, but they show no sign of launching that in NZ any time soon.

Speaking of which - has anyone imported the Ring Alarm by themselves and got it to successfully work with Ring Cameras and the App?\

Thanks.

DO NOT attempt to import the Ring Security system: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=73&topicid=223277

Have you priced up getting a proper security system installed?

Not yet, no. My problem is i'm no security expert, and I don't want to get locked into a legacy system unnecessarily through ignorance.
