Hi team,

Keen to jump on the Shelly system but looking at a small number of bulbs for floor/desk lamps around the home.

All I want is IFTTT and Home Assistant integration.

I can get Philips Hue A60s for $29 each (it's the newer version which dosn't need a hub... I think)

Any better options out there?

Thanks

Do you already have the floor/desk lamps? Do you need dimming?

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Yes and Yes. Mainly time set dimming (or dusk/dawn) and the odd dimming for a movie evening. Mainly Android/Google ecosystem..

Ok. That rules out cheap smart plugs then. They would have done on/off but no dimming. I'm firmly in the Shelly camp however but for desk lamps you are better off doing something like the hues. I have no experience with them sorry.

Brilliantsmart are the only local tuya ones that have ifttt support. Seems that everyone is bailing on them with them moving to the charging model so no incentive for the lamp manufacturers to include it.

Brilliantsmart ones are ok.. not very low dimming levels and do use PWM so if that bothers you then you may want to look elsewhere (pun intended)

There is huge progress in the tuya to home assistant integration happening, but go read up on if they're supporting those lamps yet as some devices are unsupported.

Brilliantsmart price is good. I've just started with Home Assistant, hopefully it will replace most needs for IFTTT.

Hi there,

I recently brought in to the Hue Family with those bulbs. I decided to go with the hub as well, because it’s a one-off cost that can control up to 50 bulbs, and give you more options than direct bulb control without bridge. I found it was slightly cheaper to buy the bulbs and the hub separately rather than going with starter packs (as I’m currently just dipping my toes in….)

I have a bit of an attachment to Apple products so I now ask Siri to dims my lights to watch movies etc.😊

My first foray into smart lights was with Belkin Wemo but three out of four of the bulbs died somewhat prematurely and they aren’t available any more.

Steve

Thanks... I'm going to get a mix of them and see how they work with the Home Assistant server - which can also emulate the Hue bridge.

Just noticed this from Bunnings. Assuming it works well, thats a really good price for a wifi colour lightbulb.

Thats clearance. You will not find them in the shop even if it says there is stock. There are people that buy all the clearance stuff and then sell them on trademe for higher prices that clear stuff out.

Kmart have a bunch of Smart Bulbs now - just search up "Smart Bulb" on their site.

I've tested some and they're very bright for a start, and Tuya based meaning they'll work with any Tuya white-label app (so Brilliant, Arlec etc all work with it).

If going the Home assistant route then maybe look at Athom smart bulbs (Aliexpress) or Mi-Home smart bulbs (pbtech or mi-store.co.nz).
