I've googled but have not see a free solution.
I am hoping to use a webcam to monitor a bank of gauges.
I'm exploring ocr software, any pointers welcome.

I my past experiences with OCR, I've found that it will not recognise anything that is slightly moving. No matter how high in quality your camera is.
What sort of gauges are you trying to monitor?
