Just wondering what people thought of something like this -

https://www.amazon.com.au/Protector-Socket-Outlets-Chargers-Black-Powerjc/dp/B08HK155M9?pf_rd_r=N9B7WXB1W3YMQY5QZ69W&pf_rd_p=663d51d5-855f-43e2-9fb4-59410c033680&pd_rd_r=d5fe2a1f-f6ed-4ece-880c-895a4c20194d&pd_rd_w=iNeQH&pd_rd_wg=9xrOe&ref_=pd_gw_unk

worth getting from AU ?

Has decent spacing between points plus has USBs.

Purely for computer stuff, like the pc, monitor, a good few external HDDs, so no heavy heating or anything.

Though after reading the reviews, maybe not

This looks actually quite attractive at first glance, but looking at a few of the 1- and 2-star reviews indicate that it is made to a very low price, not certified for Australia, and has a tendency to emit lots of smoke and flames. Great for a fire pit, not so much for a plug box.

Edit: This product also seems to be the same as this one, which has the same type of reviews, as well as a comment that the lack of sheathing on the live and neutral mean that it is illegal to sell in AUS/NZ.

I work at home, and with only 2 plugs in the room, I have plug boxes daisy chained together, so anything I can do to minimize all that would be a good thing. A rough count gives me around 20 devices ranging from a PC, four monitors, a couple of NAS's, a couple of printers, and various other things. Does anyone have any suggestions (short of rewiring my house) for quality multi-plug adapter solutions?

Just get HPM ones from bunnings and be done with it. Avoid things that cost less than a coffee at maccas to be safe.

Belkin is my go to for multiplugs, they're quite a bit more expensive than everything else out there from the likes of kmart and warehouse but they have good protections in place

Ive got a few of 8 ways that have usb charging ports of them

They have really decent spacings between the sockets as well which makes life a little easier :)

I thought it looked quite promising till it occurred to scroll down to the reviews.

I have a few Belkins (and others here), but the spread out sockets looked good.

Wish there were more individually switched boards around.

Would be reasonably confident that it doesn't meet the claimed standards....or even close to it

Incredible that someone can report a review but not the product listing itself. Perhaps one to send to Energy Safety NZ?

You would need to send it to the AU equivalent place. NZ only really bans things that are terribly bad. I mean they allow the sale of the $2.99 powerstrips despite them being terrible for problems. They need to clean own house before trying to tackle amazon AU.

The various spelling/grammar mistakes in the images turned me off straight away: "Yoer best choice", "Your safety.we always keep in mind", "We want this powerstrip to beall right for absolufe safety using", "10.000 times normal plugging won'tloose"

Second the Belkin ones. I have seen how poorly some of the surge protectors that are sold are, and the Belkin ones seem like a sturdy product.

Have basically changed all power boards to this Belkin Power board (or the smaller version). With the 10% off it is about $36 right now.

It looks reasonably sturdy so you could use it to chock a motorbike if that's what you had in mind, but I wouldn't do anything crazy like trying to plug something electrical into it, it'll be a MOV or two strapped across the conductors, the cheapest thinnest phosphor-bronze leaf contacts, (two-page list of further dodgy cheap manufacturing), great for starting barbeques though.

One of these is a DIY job (like for like) to double the number of wall sockets cheaply
