I’m after a fair few aaa rechargeable batteries, I use a number of puck LED lights on my toy shelves for lighting them up. I would rather go rechargeable as the lights run off infrared so they tend to need replacing every few months. I’ve got some eneloops but they are going to get expensive by the time I get the number I’m after. Can anyone reccomend some cheaper alternatives? Eneloops cost in the region of $4-5 each, any cheaper ones would be ideal.

cheers

Amazon basics has some good deals, though with shipping they get a bit more expensive. Amazon AU has these batteries a little more expensive that rate well, and shipping is cheaper than Amazon USA.

for me, eneloops have always made up for their cost by the number of cycles i get out of them. i do use a good charger, but i used the same pair of chargers with varta and energizer - neither lasted as long.

perhaps you can give the amazon basics a go, and give us your feedback from first hand experience? there was/is a rumor they are eneloops made for amazon (perhaps to a lesser spec or something).

Eneloop pricing at Noel Leeming with CSC Membership for anyone that's curious. In line with the cost you mentioned OP.

Do you have any pals in Australia? LADDA batteries are quite popular on OzBargain

Could you snake some thin enamelled wire between them and feed them from a USB charger or seperate battery box instead? I have modified many LED lamps (mainly paladone icons ones) that way and it also means no worrys about leakage ruining them.

If you want more of a deep dive into actual testing results, the ever-reliable Project Farm has several videos on exactly this topic.

US-based, but still a good number of the brands are available here.

thanks, might give those a go from Amazon au, because I’m a tighta#$e will grab enough to get free shipping lol

@richms I don’t trust myself to perform such a task, LED strip lighting would also work however I would need to lay cables through shelves etc and I’m inherently lazy so the easy option is pucks lol

 Haha that’s how I get my eneloops from, but as I’m after in the order of 70-80 odd or so (I could go for strip lighting but I really can’t be faffed trying to figure that out :-)

Following with interest as I’ve been keen on buying AAAs but have been put off by the high price of Eneloop (which are often more expensive than the AAs, and don’t seem to come down on special as frequently).

Looking at the links given earlier, if buying say 24:
* Amazon Basics from Amazon US - $3.05 each
* EBLs from Amazon AU - $43.54 $2.72 each

Does anyone have any experience with either of these options?

Eneloops for me. I buy from Noel Leeming through our Farmlands account at a significant discount from retail so they are pretty good value for money.
