ok ok ok... so HP has just got it out the door in NZ and being the first to release m1188a and m1199a while other competitors aren't catching on the MCE bandwagon in NZ...

it isn't too badly priced (NZ$3299 for m1199a without monitor) considering it has P4 3.4GHz, 1GB DDR400, 160GB SATA HDD, 8x DL +/-RW DVD, 16x DVD-ROM, ATI Radeon x300 PCI-e 256MB DDR (TV,DVI-i), 802.11G, TV Tuner with FM radio and remote. 7.1 surround ready, and lots...

But what about those that wanting to build our own MCE? where to source MCE2005 OEM? apparently there's an online site in US selling MCE2005 OEM and perfectly legal... sadly i can't order it because they don't deliver outside of USA (drat!)

mmmmmmmmmm I surely like to get one of this baby for my bedroom+homeoffice...

HP is not the only supplier in NZ... I was in Auckland for the Microsoft MCE 2005 launch (where I did a demo of Portable Media Center devices) and saw some very good looking devices. A couple of them actually look like any stereo component.

On the other hand, I'm sure you can MCE 2005 O&M if you buy some "essential" item for your new computer - a mouse or even the "green button" remote control for example.

Yep, 20 Oct... I flew there to demo the Windows Mobile Portable Media Center - at the time I had the only one in the country, courtesy of Microsoft.

Not easy. It helps being a MVP.

Better than flying to Auckland? Check this blog entry.

The Hush MCE 2005 is available in New Zealand through Krome. It's a very good looking, and 100% silent - no fans!

I saw it during the MCE launch, very impressive.

Some pics I found here, taken during the Windows MCE 2005 launch in Auckland. Some look very good next to a receiver - they don't look like computers at (actually a couple don't even come with keyboard).

I can't remember all brands, but one is the Krome Hush mini-ITX, very silent, no fans in the case! The other one is the Stylah (a New Zealand brand). And of course the HP.

Note the links are to NZ distributors
