Id like to start replacing some of my standard wall light switches with push button versions.
Any recommendations? Ive looked around the PDL websites for a start but interested in others observations

We struggled to find anything decent. In the end we decided against it.

Only seen this sort, may be expensive for whole house though.

I guess the price isnt terrible considering, but most of my existing switches are hooked up to shellys, so the aim I should have mentioned was to avoid the reversed switches it often creates when operated remotely

Do shellys need to be toggled back and forth to trigger when they are changed by software? I have never seen that come up before in any of the reviews, it looked like it was like the sonoffs where any change in state of the input would toggle the output regardless of the switches starting position.

You can use the various states as below, so if the wife wants the switch to always be up as off, then it can do it. Else you can use edge to operate it in either position.
We have some linked switches that are at opposite ends of a room, so the positions can be mismatched anyway (its my saving grace!) but a push button eliminates that

I went with this momentary switch to avoid the state issues with Shelly:

And I got the 2 plate as I had a Shelly 2PM:

Oh ok, I have never heard of anyone having an issue with the direction the switch it. I have just had a prior smart relay needing the double flip to get it to change when remotely activated which made it a non-starter. I think that was my brief foray into insteon that had that. Might have been the x10 stuff. Cant recall TBH.

Those Lifx ones as an Apple HomeKit switch, but need beta firmware that Lifx will supply if you email them.

I got these to replace my dumb switches to smart ones. One of the things I don't like is that if using the smart feature, the switch first talks to a server in China before it can turn the switch on or off remotely. So always needs an Internet connection.

I think thats part of the issue with PDL - trying to locate the specific insert without going to the supplier.
The switch you mention is ( for failure of a better description) a spring loaded return switch?

I know what you mean, I ended up going in store first to see the different options.

Yes that is a good description of the switch, it is in the off position and when you switch it on it springs back to the off position. With the Shelly and home assistant I get 4 triggers (single, double, triple tap and long press) per switch. They also have a 3 position momentary switch that goes up and down from the middle position.

Cheers, ended up getting a couple for testing. Then I realized they were momentary switches 😊
I didnt consider they werent rocker or 1/2 position switches, which is all good and well as a 2PM will sit behind them, but if the shelly ever goes down (or when I go back to manual switches) they wont work.. lol
Didnt think that one through, but they do what I expected :)

I can confirm these work well as push buttons:

Arcade Light Switch Plate Cover, Single Switch (Black/Red/Blue), 1-Gang Standard - Picture 1 of 6

This is what I will end up with before paying for those PDL modules.

Edit: since pasting a copied image seems to hotlink it rather than paste the image, source is here incase the hotlinking fails.
