Hi team,
I'm based in Wellington and currently looking at retrofitting some existing Admire Commercial roller blinds in my house built by Williams Corp with smart tubular motors.
My whole philosophy for this project is reliability and local control. I want to pair these directly to my existing Home Assistant setup (via ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT). I absolutely refuse to deal with Tuya workarounds, cloud polling, or extra proprietary hubs cluttering up my network. Pure Zigbee 3.0 is the goal.
I pulled one of the blinds down to measure the hardware. The tube is a 43mm Outer Diameter with 3 internal ribs (one deep rectangular keyway, two small square stabilizing ribs). It’s a dead ringer for a Rollease Acmeda 43mm profile.
Google Gemini got me as far as it could, and here is where I need some local knowledge to avoid an expensive mistake:
1. The Motors: I know the Zemismart 25mm Zigbee battery motors from AliExpress are the usual community go-to, but does anyone know of a solid local NZ supplier stocking generic Zigbee 3.0 tubular motors? Or am I better off just ordering from the official Zemismart Ali store?
2. The Adapters: Apparently this is the hard part? If I buy a 25mm Zemismart, it ships with standard 38mm plastic adapters. Does anyone know a local blinds shop, installer, or supplier in NZ (ideally Wellington region) that will sell me just the 43mm Rollease Acmeda (or equivalent) crown and drive wheels to fit the Zemismart 25mm motor core? Has anyone locally had to source these? Apparently 3D-Printing is a potential option?
Any advice from someone who has already navigated this exact retrofit would be massively appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
