Hey guys,

We have a Luxaire air-con/heat pump (the one from the warehouse) which is controlled by it's own logic controller, and using a ir remote.

Has anyone bypassed this to run this air-conditioner (or any) through a nice web-enabled thermostat?

Most of the air con companies sell a separate Lonworks or BACnet protocol interface card for connection to industrial controllers/SCADA systems and the like. They are very expensive.

Most offer additional plug in cards for very basic on/off/fault/some remote setpoint adjustment capabilities which you can interface with your own controller relays.

Very few brands have built in web capabilities, though some can offer some computer software as a paid extra.

Those warehouse heat pumps were non inverter types from memory. I really doubt you would find any instantly compatible products for a non major brand product. What exactly are you aiming to do and can it be done with the remote/timers etc instead?

Plan was to connect it to an arduino duemilanove kit.

There are some wonderful web-based thermostat projects that could be co-opted.

Any success? I was keen to see if I could make a computer control my heat pump to provide better timing, weather reaction and the like.
