Is the Kindle DX with the bigger screen going to work well in NZ with 3G and not wi-fi.  Has there been a further release since the 2009 model?  Really keen on this model because of screen size but they are not available in NZ - I could purchase in the States and then ship here.

What are the pro's and con's please

Thanks for that. Is the 3G free?

It's free, but if you register a NZ account you can only access Wikipedia and download your eBooks.

Does that mean the 3G works like the 3G 6" model at DickSmith's whereby it connects free to Amazon. I note you said that if you register a NZ account you can only access Wikipedia? How do you get around this then? Do you register as if you are living in the USA?

A New Zealand account (one with a NZ credit card) will only have free 3G for eBooks download and Wikipedia access. You will need a US credit card *AND* a US IP address if you want a US account.

Even so, if you have a US account and use the 3G a lot more outside the US than there the account may be suspended.

In other words: if you don't know what you are doing, or don't have the means, then you will use a NZ account. You still get free 3G for eBook downloads and Wikipedia.
