Line up thread for Queen street, join here!

How about:

* Credit card/cash/EFTPOS/IOU to buy the phone
* A spare limb (arm or leg) to actually pay for the iPhone plan
* Chair to sit on
* Quick escape route planned to minimise chances of getting mugged/killed for your new toy
* Lots of caffine/water/BZP laced party pills to make the wait easier
* Noose to hang yourself when you find out the phones are sold out before you get to the front of the queue

Think that should do it .......

Im definitely in.

However, what exactly do you think you'll need to sign up? I mean, i dont have a credit card (thankfuly)

im alrready on 'on account'. However, I am not the account "holder" as such but i have authorisation on the account.. SO what now? Im paying for it though..?

To sign up all you need is ID (passport, license etc) and possibly proof of address. If you already have an account, take ID and a copy of your bill.

As to where to meet, either outside the Vodafone store, or perhaps somewhere like Bugerking just down the road?

Does anyone work in town, possibly late on a Thursday night ;-) who can scope out the store???

Just as a heads up, when Star Wars screened in Newmarket as a midnight opening, I went to that, got there at 10:30pm and there where FOUR people in front of me. Mass numbers didn't really start until after 11, by 11:30 the queue was getting long. Anybody else been to a midnight release to compare?

As for getting in touch why dont we just txt each other when we get there?

Then if anyone is keen we can go the pub afterwards and play with our new gadgets! Assuming we all get one....

Sounds like a good idea, actually.

So because im under 18 (oh did I mention that earlier?) will it matter? or am i going to have to bring along mommy to enjoy the lovely wait as well :P

I'll very likely be lining up, depending on the contract prices. I've also been wondering about how early to queue up. At Macworld this year I lined up at 4:30AM, which was five hours before the keynote and managed to get a great seat. I doubt there will be as many Mac/iPhone obsessed people in Auckland in July as San Francisco in January, but I guess it really depends on how many units they have available (which I doubt they will officially reveal). I was thinking of lining up around 6 o'clock ish, depending on feedback I get on how long the line is from friends who will be lining up or in the area.

Well, I saw the guy on TV who is selling his place in the queue on trademe, and he is lining up 18 hours before, which is a bit extreme, almost guaranteed on being first in line.

I reckon anybody there before 6pm is far too keen and a bit of an Apple fanboy ;-)

So how about we aim for 6pm, I can come straight from work then!

4.30AM???? That's EARLY!!! Or do you mean 4.30pm?? Either way, queuing outside a store that is still open during the day (Thursday) on a busy part of Queen Street could be either fun or a real drag. But you may be 2nd in the queue behind 'Selling my place in the queue on Trademe' man.

I will see you about 6.

Oh, all of us who are going to the Queen St store should PM each other our cellphone numbers, and if a large-ish group of us are going to meet there at a certain time, lets organise it a bit? Comments, ideas, suggestions?

Sounds as if we could wait til the morning and then bown up to any old store and get one....BUT it's the "sounds as if" in that that I'm not happy with!

So it sounds as if some people might just turn up after work etc?
