Just wondering is there any software to convert my Hogans Hero's AVI's to the iphone format? I have tried the trial version stuff that give 5 mins, what about a free programme that does a whole show!?

Handbrake.

On windows, videora. Does batch conversion, and is free (ad supported).

I have had problems when converting to iPhone (new format), it seems to like using a higher bitrate 264 stream than the phone supports.
If I stick with the "old format", it works fine.

Ah, have a look for "any video converter". I've found that to be one of the best free video conversion tools. I'm in a bit of a hurry now so I can't post a link. I'll edit this post to include one soonish.

Ok, here's a link for a good multi format video onverter:

I use this one all the time and I can say that it works well with most formats.

Mac OS X is not the same as Mac OSX mobile. Anytihng that is compatible with Mac OS X mobile (ie. anytihng with itunes) is all go. Remeber that in the future.
