I wonder what will happen when they bring in wireless charging to the next iphone. Will they remove the lightning port? Or will this then allow you to charge while listening to music via lightning. As long as there is a way to charge, while listening to music via headphones, there shouldn't be a problem. But people should be able to choose if they want to use wired or wireless headphones, and not let apple dictate this.

My borked 5s has been limping toward the new release (and been unusable for the past couple of days)

For me it's (now) the 128GB 6s for the price of a 32GB 7 (or the price of the 16GB 6s three days ago).

The benefits of the new 7 hardware is no where near enough to offset the benefits of having so much more space than I'm use to (16GB).

I'll be picking up the 6s this afteernoon.

Why not connect the two air plugs with a cord, might help you avoid dropping and loosing one??

You could always get lightning/usb headphones for either android or iOS. There's no need to remove the 3.5mm port that almost everyone uses with almost every audio device. Throwing away decades of compatibility for nothing. Progress!

Two reasons. To make room for the tactile force touch on the home button and the larger circuit board for the due camera which was relocated due to size.

Yep, and the 30 pin to lightning was more an issue than losing the 3.5 jack. This time they softened that by including an adaptor. And unlike cock radios and other 30 pin devices which then required and adapter OR the adapter and phone wont fit, the jackless iPhone 7 has BT which is unaffected. IMHO the incidence of "I can't use it now" is very small compared to the 30 pin change.

Maybe so, but changes happen all the time. Take TV, it disabled many TV's or added cost to continue watching. Ive listened a lot to music on my 6 Plus to a UEBoom. Music uses very little battery. Ive never needed to listen and charge as I make sure its full if I plan to use if for a few hours with mates over a cold one. I doubt many would use an iPhone to speaker cable that often. This that use wireless headphones are probably on a bus, bike, running, where it cant be charged anyway, although some might charge from a stick I guess. Yes, its a limitation, but I feel it will rarely cause inconvenience, and as we know someone will bring out a double plug for those whose use cases need it.
