Apple have always said that they'd say who was retailing them today, not before. As someone said, Vodafone didn't get the iPad either so I suspect Apple have attempted to take over the distribution channel direct here and Vodafone have chucked toys. Hasn't been sorted so the channel has frozen and nobody has stock.

My guess - it goes up on the Apple Store at 10am because that's the opening time of the Aussie Apple retail stores and they'll put it up on the Australasian online stores at the same time. Or maybe 11am when the website admin wanders into work in Sydney...

The sadest part about this whole saga is the irreputable damage to vodafones reputation regardless of the reason.

You simply don't get people to sign up to receive information about a launch and then not deliver - especially second time around!

Apple will be dancing all the way to the bank regardless of today's reasoning. Vodafone will be losing a lot of loyal customers to our new competition.

Yep. This saga has pretty much cemented my thoughts that I should be switching to 2Degrees. One ironic twist is stopping this though.... I've got $100 of pre-pay credit to use up first, which I won from VodafoneTreats on Twitter. And the rate I use my mobile phone, that will take many months. :-)

Yeah, although I doubt we're going to get a straight answer on this one.

Vodafone will spin it if it doesn't go their way. Apple will just find another distributor.

Ahhh what a mess.

I didn't realize VF distributes all iPhones in NZ? Why would thus be instead of Renaissance handling all Apple?

You may be right but lets not forget these are both 2 different products.   The ipad is a web based device, content can come primarily by wifi so it can be argued to be not carrier specific... it's also less likely to have been involved in any forward distribution agreements that anyone signed a few years back.

iPhone however is a phone device... calling and txt... so it's distribution and supply channels are more suited to mobile network providers. No doubt there were/are contracts in place to control them.

Everything else is simply speculation and details... my moneys on the details......
