Nice one! I must say, as a 2degrees customer, I have been impressed by Spark's pre-order process for the X (and their communication on Facebook). Not that it benefits me personally in any way…

Speaking of which, anyone heard anything from 2degrees?

I ordered my iPhone X from Spark at 8:02 on Friday - unfortunately I typed my email address wrong on the order screen but I got this rectified the next day on the phone. Got this change double checked today and also happened to ask about delivery times - they told me they are unsure when the order will ship as they don't know stock levels yet. I'm hoping for the 3rd but not holding my breath.

Out of interest, what bank are you with? I’m with ASB and paid with a Visa, i had the hold showing since the day of pre-order for the full cost of the phone but it’s no longer showing there. I guess they’ll charge the account fully soon but my balances for the card don’t include the hold or the cost of the phone anymore. Worried about that causing a delay?

Ok so what tends to happens with retailers etc.

when you create the order a retailer puts an authorisation hold on the amount of the transaction, they can only hold the funds for a set amount of time however. You will sometimes see what you are seeing now. A hold on funds, the release of the hold and then a charge when it ships. Should not be anything to worry about :)

Phew! Thanks for that, deffo helps clarify haha. I’ve seen holds before on the card but nothing ever as exciting as this so I’ve never bothered to give it a second thought lol

ASB here Visa Debit. The hold fell off last night, the charge happened over night, so nothing to worry about! I have never been so happy to see -$2099.00 Apple Sydney on my account :)

The charger works great with the iPhone 8 (including with the Apple leather case) so I'm assuming it'll be just as good with the X.

Bummer! Tried to order 2 but only had one then missed that one too!

Great that more will be in next week and Ben is allowing pre-orders to be set up today.

A workmate was about to order one from Apple, I told her not to and that i'll get a couple of these!

Ordered at 8:10pm on Friday, got told that my order was made (and they charged my card + approved credit on the spot), but beyond that I've heard zilch. Ordered a 64GB Silver X, but when I rang the call centre they said they couldn't tell me what batch my shipment will be until Friday. It's a shame that Apple makes it so hard on NZ carriers.

I do this every year, and the status doesn't change to shipped until about 8/9 PM on Thursday evening.
By that stage, the phone will actually be in Auckland, but for whatever reason, Apple leaves it until then to update the order status.
Kind of cool that customers in the US can track their shipments very early on with UPS.

This question gets asked every year!

Generally on Thur. night at somewhere around 8pm the status changes and the notification is sent with Tracking number etc.

From what I understand the phones will pretty much be in NZ as a console by now ready for DHL to divide up and deliver on Friday morning.

In some instances the notifications will actually come through on Friday morning and you may have already received your phone :)

Does anyone know if they can be picked up from DHL Thursday night. ? I’m flyig out of the country on Friday at 6am. Will be painful knowing it’s sitting at home waiting for me.

I doubt it, they probably have been told not to deliver/allow pickups until Friday.
