Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the price for the 128GB models just went up overnight by NZ$200, most likely owing to the drop in value of the NZ$ over the past few months.

For instance I believe the iPhone 6 128GB went from $1299 to $1499 on the Apple Store (store.apple.com/nz)

A friend reported the same in Aussie yesterday for the 6+, and I believe the same happened here.

Not sure if prices for other capacity models was changed.

Yep prices have certainly increased, most likely due to falling NZ dollar.

Purchase from the likes of Noel Leeming etc who offer outright sale, before they too increase prices.

There are a lot of IT distributors starting to pass on increases now with the pretty significant drops in the $

Yip, as part of their apple watch launch yesterday, Apple tweaked their international pricing on a number of thier product lines,

looks like macbooks, and iphones got a price bump,

Pretty much everyone got bumped, as the US dollar has risen against most currences, It included Europe, canada, Aust+NZ + others

The thing is that they didn't reducing pricing when the Nz dollar went up.

It's a one way street I'm afraid. But look on the bright side, you can now get a smart watch to go with it!

The Yuan must have appreciated in value along with the USD otherwise they couldn't really blame the cost of manufacture.

People incensed by the increase could boycott Apple products, but we all know that is never going to happen.

Last night I told my wife of this subtle little increase and it is safe to say that this will be the hair that broke the camels back with her, she has tired of her 5s and wants to update but iPhone is off the table as she struggles to see the value proposition anymore

I'm sure enough people will still splash out $1600 on a 128GB 6+ but to me that is starting to get damn expensive for a phone, $800~1200 has been the price range for premium phones for a few years now, technology keeps getting better and cheaper so not sure what can justify this "Apple" premium these days

It was that or a work-supplied Samsung *shudder*

(Plus it was a 64 GB and she had a discount code so it was even cheaper).

I was referring to earlier than that. When the NZ dollar was around the 60 cent mark, and went up into the 70's, apple product prices didn't decrease in price. I think they were around the same level as they have been for since the iphone came out, and the NZ dollar at one stage dropped down under 50 cents in about 2008-09. If you compare the NZ dollar now to what it has been over the last 8 years, it is higher now than on average over this period. So I don;t think they could justify the price rise on the exchange rate, especially as apple probably use some form of hedging to absorb these short term currency variations. Even at 73 cents, it is historically pretty strong against the US.

Well I guess it will mean they will sell less $US 17,000 US iwatches in NZ. That price still looks to me like a parody price.

China is surely and steadily increasing its manufacturing costs. At some point this always will get to a point where it cannot be absorbed and therefore must be passed on I guess this could be to blame in part. Most companies try to cut costs to negate passing on increases but i guess Apple has such a finely tuned business model that there is little room to move
