Personally, I think this is the correct decision despite the self-interested protests by Apple and the IRS. More importantly, the EU is doing what everyone else is far too slow at/timid to do: forcing countries to give up on relying on these artificially low tax arrangements in an attempt to lure businesses to set up HQ, at the expense of other countries. And it's all a bit rich for Americans to complain about overreach, given their own rather unilateral attempts at foisting FATCA on everyone.
