Earlier this year the big box stores dropped their iphone SE 16/64GB prices by $200. I guessed it was because Apple told them to purge stock in anticipation of a 32/128GB re-release, and that's exactly what happened. The new models were sold for $750 and $950 in all stores for a couple of weeks, then, inexplicably, the new phones started being sold at -$200 discounts again. They've been selling at $550 and $750 in those big chain stores for almost the entire time they've been out (Apple store prices didn't change, but they rarely do).

Now I look at the end of sale deadline listed by Warehouse Stationary, Noel Leeming, etc.: 05 June

WWDC17 starts: June 5

What is Apple up to? Why did the re-released high capacity iPhone SEs go on sale almost immediately after they were released? Why does the sale end exactly on WWDC17?

And now the WWDC keynote has passed, prices remain the same - 32GB SE @ $549

Warehouse Stationary now says "Offer Ends: 18/06/2017".
