I had an email from Noel Leeming last night talking about pre orders. I didn't click through the detail to see which models in particular.

They were also taking pre-orders when the Apple Watch II was released, and six weeks later they still had no idea if/when they were able to supply the product despite having taken full payment at the time of the order.
I wouldn't trust them - buy direct from Apple instead.
I found I had some spare time today, so dropped into the local mall. Asked this question at JBHIFI and was told they would have them early September. (!!!) Oobe said they had not been told and would not like to guess. Noel Leeming said 2 to 3 weeks at a guess. It appears on the face of it, the guys at Oobe gave the best (Honest) answer. Kind of funny really.

So in other words, none of them have any idea.
I would expect stock to be in store within a few days though given there is only a 3 business day delay for shipping via Apple direct, perhaps indicating that demand is not out of control for this new device. I'm just guessing too though...

If I order now from Apple, it's 3 days to ship.

Yep, fully understand & appreciate all that. No problems there. I was just wanting to see, feel try etc in a store. Maybe as above, they will have them in stores sooner rather than later. But typical Apple, seems they are keeping their retail partners in the dark a little over in store timings.
So finally IOS is following android by having a dock and files, but my question is -
is that available to my older ipad pros? what happens to mobile phones - also docks? that would be nice. Stops me envying android like a kid at a toy shop looking through the window.
In Brisbane next week so hoping they will have one in the Apple Store there to check out. Currently, have the 9.7 Pro so keen to see what the extra screen real estate is like and the overall dimensions.

The dock is definitely available on all iPad Pros – I'm running the iOS11 beta on my 9.7 Pro and it's fantastic. The Files section is currently a little empty as there's no Dropbox integration just yet (it's up to Dropbox to update their app to support it) and I don't personally have any files in my iCloud drive.
Having spoken to JBHIFI in welly this morning, they tell me they have stock in store but it's not on the floor yet as the Apple channel folk have to come out and do the swapout with older units.
Quite fascinating, but I expect they will be on floor by friday.

joker97: Haha you guys are funny my iPad pros are more than capable, I'm just glad i can actually store files on it now though it remains to be seen. Too bad my iPads are both 16gb lol
I don't understand the comment, "You guys are funny". It would make sense to buy an iPad pro 10.5 if you are upgrading from a much older model, IE, original iPad Air.
