1st gen iPhone prices are about to take a hammering when the new model is announced.

At this stage, its probably not worth buying one for the next month, while prices tumble, then settle.

Well based on Job's announcement of $US199 for the new 8GB 3G model, you should be able to get the 1st Gen for about $NZ150 tops.

Cheers Mike

hah yeah, just saw that on the news now. But I think for that price, why not just pick up a 3g one. It might actually be a half decent phone! Still no idea on the price of it though.
$150 eh?..... Hmmm..... that will be so cool

I think (and hope! - I need to sell my one) that the price of 1st Gen iPhones will get back up there in the next couple of weeks when pricing/contact lock-in info is released by Vodafone.

Sure, the 3G iPhone might be $299 (that's my guess) for the 8GB version - but it'll come with a 24 month contract @ $79 per month (another guess) incl. 1GB of data (I'll be stoked if all these guesses turn out correct).

So all of a sudden you're going to be paying over $2,000 for the phone, rather than paying $400 or so for a second-hand, unlocked 1st Gen iPhone.
