Does anyone know of a way to be kept up to date with the latest additions to the app store?

Cheers
Craig

I remember reading somewhere about a guy who created RSS feeds for new, updated and other features. Google is your friend.

I'm actually writing my own that returns only those available in the NZ store.  I already have a test page up, although Apple have changed something in the last few days so I need to spend some time investigating what they've changed.

All fun and games  Laughing

Strangely enough my page started working again, so Apple must have changed something back.  The following page gives you apps released/updated in the last 4 days:
http://newapps.wiltshire.org.nz

No, its not an RSS feed, yes, it will only update every hour at this point, no it won't give you a full description of the app yet, yes it can be slow the first time as its only doing minimal output caching and actually calling the apple website each time it needs to refresh its cache.

However it is fitting nicely into the Safari browser on the iPhone, and you can click on any row to be taken into the app store (either on your pc/mac or on your iPhone)

I might look into making it an RSS feed instead, and I may also look at making it a full database driven web app with background checks for new update etc etc.  I have some ideas floating around in my head for it.  Its purely a matter of time.

Jon

Edit: This still isn't picking up as many applications as it should be, it looks like the Apple iTunes Browser functionality still isnt working correctly.  I will have to implement it using alternate urls............stay tuned.

Edit2: I'm now picking apps up from a completely different URL which seems to be returning a lot more items.  It's also returning them all in a single hit which has sped up processing no-end.  Apparently there are over 165 new/updated apps today?!?!  Apple have been busy.

Ok, I have an RSS feed now of new/updated iPhone applications in the NZ iTunes store.

This feed is updated hourly.

I need to pull finger and get the Category/Genre information in there as well, its on my to-do list.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LatestNewZealandIphoneApplications

If the demand is there I might look at separate free/paid feeds, as well as separate new/updated feeds.

If you have any other suggestions please post them here and i'll see what I can whip up.

Enjoy

Jon
