cannot set-up webmail on my new jailbroken 2.1 iphone.  I have a email account through vodafone webmail i want to set up, but can.  I get this error : Could not activate cellular data network: PDP authentication failure.  Also i dont think i have EDGE that everyone is talking about.  I just want to be able to send/recieve enails like my old phones

Do Safari/YouTube/other web-based applications work on the mobile network? (as in not on Wi-Fi)

If it doesn't work then it could be an APN problem.

Prob apn problem
go to settings, general, network, cellular data network, change apn from www.iphone-vodafone.net.nz to www.vodafone.net.nz.
Also put 3g on(under network). see if this works. itl cost $1 a day tho. if u dont want to get charged change the apn back to www.iphone-vodafone.net.nz. see if that works?

Glad you got the APN problem sorted.

Yes, if you don't have a mobile broadband plan on, you will be charged the casual data rate of $1 day for usage up to 10MB a day (and then it's $1/MB over that).

As for setting up Vodafone Mail on the iPhone, I can't help there, and the help pages say to call 0800 800 021 for help, but considering it the Gen I device, I don't think they're going to support your phone (you could lie and say it's an iPhone 3G... but I'm not sure about that)

For vodafone mail you will need to enable pop/imap from webmail on the site and also have to set a password etc.

Ohhh.... you mean Vodafone fixed line webmail.

Do you have an @vodafone.co.nz or @ihug.co.nz email address?

Make sure you have followed this.

I don't use Vodafone fixed line webmail through an email client, so I'm not sure exactly what ports or if any special things are required.
