Hi, I had a 3G previously & have recently been using a 3GS. I'd say that the battery life has been better by a smallish margin. Sooooo much, though, seems to come back to how you use your device & what settings you have enabled.
When I upgraded to OS 3.0 on the 3G phone my battery life took a dive, but it seemed to be linked to my allowing notifications for one of my apps. I cancelled notifications & it went back to about normal.
At present, with the 3GS I don't have push enabled, no notifications & I generally keep location services off & I would probably be getting 2-3 days use before needing a recharge.
I'd noticed previously that powering off the phone overnight & powering it back on in the morning was using about 8% battery life, whereas leaving it on used about 2%. I haven't done this test again with the 3GS.... but suspect it'd be about the same.
So many different ways people use their iPhone & different ways of charging it....

Cheers,
Mike
