I was looking thru "Bargin Bin" a watch list iphone app yesterday and noticed that the Doom game app was on special for 70% off. I thought Id look at it in our nz app store. this game on the PC scared me senceless at 2am when I was younger and thought Id get it at 70% off. Not there at the moment!! nor are any Id software paid apps. Odd they were there last week.
All other thanksgiving weekend specials are available from what I can see.
Its blazoned over some Gameloft apps: "thanksgiving" sale

Do you think Id Software's paid apps are down by coincidence or  has it taken them off the non-USA stores maybe just for this special This stinks a little bit. OK - maybe they just want to look after their fellow countrymen on their national holiday - I can understand this - its not our (NZ) holiday after all. I just didn't expect them to go as far as to totally pull their paid apps. If i want to buy iphone Doom Resurrection today- not allowed!

Is there any way around this? Ive heard about proxy servers but that sounds a bit iffy.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I have the Duke Nukem game and it's impossible to play with the on screen controls on the iPhone.. Wish I didn't buy it now, waste of money! Any 1st person shooter game will be the same

Oh yeah! - Duke Nukem - such fond PC memories. I think you're right tho Ham. I just tried another FPS demo app. It was like a slippery xbox controller. My finger kept slipping off the virtual joystick.
I've lived a pampered keyboard and mouse life - a controller especially a virtual one is too steep a curve for this fella. I just wanted to relive my first FPS... from the conveniance of my pocket. My rose-coloured glasses-of-nostalgia got in the way once again.

If you're jailbroken- quake for iPhone is pretty easy to control (and free) and way better than doom, of course still not quite as good as mouse and keyboard!

Ham - Monopoly reviews say its not the original one (London street names ) but the US names. Is that true. I'll give Chopper a go anyway

Cheers Wilstar - Quake also brings back memories. I'm not jailbroken tho. I grabbed Terminator salvation on special - not too bad to control - has a sort of mouse look with right thumb and left a joytick.
A couple more games on Xbox with my son and I'll be a pro on iphone FPS :)
