I've tried to connect my iPad to both Koru Club and CafeNet wifi.  Both these sites allow you to connect but you need to logon through the browser.  The iPad wifi connection manager seems to open the logon pages up correctly but you can't submit them. The submit (On CafeNet it is the logon button I think) button doesn't seem to do anything.

Has anyone seen an iPad wifi authentication guide I can send to CafeNet and Air New Zealand to show them how to configure their authentication?

Thanks

Rod

May be unrelated but I know the iPad WiFi is sometimes incompatible. A person I follow on Twitter is selling his as it's not compatible with Uni WiFi.

Make sure you click the button in the webpage itself, rather than choosing submit from the keyboard - it seems to be a Safari bug from what I've read.

The Air New Zealand forum at FlyerTalk had someone posting about it recently - it does seem to work if you do this.

I'd assume that's most likely related to the DHCP bug in the iPad rather than WiFi itself?

Thanks for the response.  Pretty sure I tried pushing the button on the page, but will check again.

On CafeNet I also tried the same.

It seems wierd that it fails on the iPad considering that I have no problems connecting to Cafenet on my iPhone using the submit button on their logon page as normal. As I understand it the software is essentially the same on the two devices.

I used my Ipad at the domestic Koru Lounge in Auckland a couple of weeks back no problems.

Had no issues with iPad wifi in Koru Wellington.  Always make sure you click the button on the page rather than the keyboard

Crap. Back in the Wellington Lounge and same problem.

When I connect I get the Cisco Web Authentication screen, I put in username and password and hit Submit. Then it just hangs.

The lovely folks at Air New Zealand even made contact and ran a test on their iPad, which worked as well. I have all the same settings as them.

Could it be an app I've loaded?

I didn't manage to get onto CityLink either with the same issue, so something seems weird on my machine or I'm just a thickie.

Any further thoughts?

Thanks

Rod

If you're having problems submitting a username and password to a form-based authentication site after connecting to a wireless network on your iPad:

Turn off Safari AutoFill.

Thanks again to AirNZ for helping me out!

I remember there used to be issues with certain CafeNet locations not working with iPhone last year...it was something to do with the way their routers were configured. Could be a similar issue with iPads? Though I would think if they've addressed the iPhone issue (read: not sure they have) then the iPads would work since it's the same OS
