If he bought it brand new, the store he purchased it from will be able to print him off a new receipt as they are required to keep records for seven years. Tell him to pop into the store and ask if they could kindly print off a new one.

I finally have fibre!  Had to leave the country to get it though.

if it shows up on the apple warranty site as 'under warranty' then i doubt they would ask for proof of purchase. Try their link: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

Tried to bring it to a vodafone retail store with an Apple case number. They said that they can't help to set up a repair without a proof of purchase.

I've posted this information previously in another topic...

Now that we know the unit is still under warranty:

If purchased from Apple.com online store, you can contact MobileFoneRepair on 0508 REPAIR. They will send prepaid courier bags to ship the unit.

If purchased from Vodafone, First Mobile or MagnumMac, Brightpoint are the service agent based in Auckland. First they need to fax or email the form to Brightpoint for a service request number and then ship the unit with completed form.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Joseph.
