Just wondering how much data is used in a skype call over 3G? Is there any way to work out roughly how much data per hour for example?

well when using skype on pc just for audio conversations it seems to use 8KB/s (4kB bi-directional) for pretty good audio quality.

Not sure about iphone with skype.

Seems to use about 0.5MB of data a minute from my experience.

I've just downloaded for the first time Skype for my iPad. Does anyone use skype to replace a cell phone? It is practical to use with a iPad? I have bluetooth headphones with headset function, I've not tried these yet. Do the headphones/mic from my 1st gen iphone work?

I called my Aunty in the UK from a bar the other day. I can't recall the data usage but the conversation was really clear.

Approx 15min call used 14mb on the 2 deg network.

FWIW call clarity was excellent.
