Is anybody else having issues with text messages since upgrading to IOS4?

Quite frequently now text messages refuse to send and any new messages are held back until the phone is rebooted.

Doesn't seem to be phone related as was happening on 3GS and 4.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

My txts are a little slower to send than before, but they go...eventually.

This is actually happening to me a lot, not sure if ours is exactly the same issue though.

When I first got the phone I'd sometimes experience a sudden loss of network traffic (even though the 3G bars would be almost full).  Txt messages wouldn't get sent, web pages wouldn't load and web based apps simply wouldn't work.

Sometimes this would last for a few minutes and then everything would work fine, otherwise I'd restart the phone or toggle Airplane mode and it'd work again.  Either way this seemed as if it wasn't related to location.

At first it just happened once a week or so, but now it's happening multiple times a day, even as much as several times per hour.

Mine seem slower as well - and I had a stubborn txt that took four retries to send on Saturday night.

i noticed this today, not really slow, just more stuck, and then the little red warning pops up, and try again seems to solve it.

ive had 4.1 for a while ( beta's etc) and its only been the last couple of days. maybe a vf issue rather than the phone.?

I'm hoping it's a VF issue, either way I'm taking mine back to the VF store later this week. Since it happens multiple times per day it's just too annoying.

Already missed a call today because of it, and then got a txt about 15 mins later saying I got a voicemail.

Today has been particularly bad for messages being sent and received.

Notably, it was since the Carrier File was updated to 7.1 - 4.0 was fine, 4.0.1 too. but the moment I updated my carrier file, that was it.

EDIT: I've been having problems with sending and recieving messages for a while, Johnr knows about it.

I updated my carrier file weeks ago.

Yea - At a guess it's been 2-3 weeks since I've had the prob on both phones.

Oh well no need to return the phone just yet then.

Ok - If I switch 3G off no more problems, I live in a area with moderate 3G coverage and no 3G Extended coverage. It seems to be an issue with the phone not falling back correctly - A couple of times I've had a no service message when running in 3G.

Whether this is a symptom of a carrier update or IOS4 I doubt I'll ever know - I have 2 days to return the phone - hmmmm!!!

I've never had this problem either but I mostly have 3G turned off to save on battery power.

With my iPhone 4 I have this issue on a daily basis. About 1 in 10 messages won't send until I reboot the phone

Also I get times when I receive 3 or 4 messages in a row that were obviously sent earlier in the day.

Exact same problem here.

And the timstamps on the texts are earlier times, so you know they were definitely sent sometimes even hours before.

There's a small discussion on this in the Vodafone forum.  Maybe if enough people post then Vodafone will take notice of it.
