Anyone using any online banking Apps on their iphone?

The westpac one doesnt work in New Zealand - but i did find a really cool one called moneystrands that will let you connect to most NZ banks and manage multiple accounts etc. - although i had to install Frash to get the website to also work on the ipad.

Wonder if there are any others people might recommend?

The National Bank one is well put together and free. Of course it only works with the National Bank...

To be honest, not sure I would use a third party app to access my bank account. That's pretty much THE use case for Open Source. First party I'd feel OK with though, unfortunately my bank (Westpac NZ) is behind the times and has neither a phone app nor a mobile banking interface (except the "text for balance of two accounts or transfer cash between them").

It's the same with online statements, ANZ Australia and National bank do but ANZ NZ don't, go figure.

I have used the National Bank I-phone application. It works well although only with basic functions.

that would be an ecumenical matter

national bank has a really good, asb mobile website is terrible. every time you select an item in a drop down list it does a full page refresh to update every other field, making it terrible slow. they need to use some javascript and ajax.

and theres no way i would ever use a third party app for banking, thats putting way too much trust in their hands.

They weren't always the same company.  And it's likely that their internal system were very different, meaning an app written for one would not work for the other.  Being mainframe based I doubt there is a simple API call they can make (GetStatements() )  and being different systems I doubt that the same code could be used for each.

They're still run pretty independently  so until that changes there will still be differences like this.

Of course the ANZ Australia systems may be similar to ANZ New Zealand, and so there should be no excuses there.

BTW I don't work for either bank so am only guessing, but I've been around the banking industry for 15 years.

I use the Nationalbank one all the time to check balances but other than that its features are pretty limited. I guess security is the big issue here regarding functionality...

I don't think it's an app. When you go to Kiwibank on the iPhone it is a page designed for mobiles.
