Just wanting to get some feedback on signal strength with the Iphone 4. I've avoided Iphones till now due to the lack of "Rest of country 3G" 850Mhz but I'm thinking of getting one. I currently have a Nokia E71 and it has pretty good signal strength (although it often looses calls in the car driving). I live in an area where I can pickup 5 cell towers from my lounge as we are in the fringe overlap of them all. I don't want to get an Iphone and find I have to stick my head out the window to make phone calls in my home office. Can anyone give me some feedback on the signal strength as compared to other decent vodafone handsets.

I'm trying to decide between the Iphone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S (I know theres other options but I want one that Vodafone will subsidise on my plan, I can get an Iphone 4 for $320 or a Galaxy S for $200). I find the Galaxy S a little too big to be ideal whereas the Iphone 4 is nearly identical in basic dimensions as my Nokia E71.

Thanks,

Matt

I have got 2 iPhone 4. I am giving them to my family members, as they don't work what I want. They made me sick! Too much bugs!

Apple is good at marketing and advertisement, is NOT a good cellphone maker.

I want to switch to RIM.

I live in a marginal reception area for vodafone and previous phones I have owned have been plagued with dropped calls. The iPhone 4 is the best of the phones that I've owned for reception. No dropped calls anymore. It's an improvement on the iPhone 3G that I used to own.

I've got to agree with John here, I've had my iPhone 4 for about three weeks after being a blackberry user for two years and I've had no issues whatsoever with it. It's alot faster than my bold 9700 was and has virtually no lag in opening apps. Reception wise I've got no complaints either, I live in wanganui and travel through the manuwatu daily and have never had issues with calls dropping.

I've had mine for about two months and I haven't had want problems with it, apart from when I'm driving through tunnels but I think that is to be expected. I love my phone.

I love mine. Only problem was hubby couldn't hear me on a few calls so I checked HIS phone and he had unknowingly turned his (non-iPhone) volume almost off, lol. I'm with voda and signal is fine.

Oh, you haven't used it enough to be affected by the DST bug then...

Thanks for the input guys - I've had a client offer to lend me theres as they aren't far from my place to I can whip it home and try it out and then shoot it back to them. I've thrown the HTC Trophy in the mix but I swore years ago I wouldn't  buy another htc (smartphone2) or windows phone (winmo 3.1), really nice responsive touch screen and great video recording and playback....

Interestingly vodafones coverage map of my area used to have a hole in my street but no longer does even though I don't think they've actually improved anything here.

I'll let you know which way I go (starting to think I'll buy a cheap LG Optimus, stay unsigned and wait for a 3.5" highres capacitive touch android phone on vodafone)

Ok I checked my iphone4 a number of times during the concert and not once it lost coverage and I could still send SMS and browse the web (did not try a phone call)
