Hi all,

Apologies if this question has already been asked here.  I vaguely remember it has, but couldn't turn up anything in my searches, other than using an iPhone 4 in the US with voice.

I will be heading to the US mid year and would like to take my iPad with me to be able to research local activities etc.  And I'd like to be able to purchase a pre-paid mico SIM from one of the local carriers to use while over there (will be there for approx 10 days.

Has anyone done this before or know if it is possible?  If so, who with and how much?

Cheers.

Yeah I had a look on their website but couldn't find the info I was after.  Perhaps they just don't offer what I am after?

Did you see this page:

http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/ipad.jsp

It looks like these are post-paid plans and it says a credit check is required so that may not suit you, but I found this page also:

http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?solutionId=KB117140&t=solutionTab

Down the bottom it says:

Prepaid Data Plans for iPad
Our AT&T 3G Data Plans for iPad are prepaid data solutions for iPad customers. You can sign up for and manage prepaid data plans directly from your iPad device. No need to come in to a store or call Customer Care for support. To activate prepaid data plans, from the iPad Home screen, select Settings > Cellular Data > Cellular Data Plan.

I think the best thing to do is go into an AT&T store when you get there and tell them what you want to do.

Well this seems to confirm that the plans listed above on the AT&T site are available prepaid and postpaid:
