Now my iPhone which I purchased last Thursday has been doing a weird little thing where it plays the incoming SMS tone twice at once. Its not the notifications thing because there is no gap between them, and the first part of the tone doesn't even finish before the second playing takes over and does the whole tone. Now when i go into sound settings and select Tri-Tone again, it plays it normally but it still gives me that double tone when I receive actual text/iMessages. My mum has the same phone and I tested it side by side and hers was not doing it.

What can I do besides restoring the phone? I googled this before posting here but all results said to restore the phone without any other workaround. I really don't want to download the un-necessarily large firmware files just to fix a text message alert.

Cheers,
Sam.

I get that occasionally on my 3G. But not consistently like you are saying. Seems to happen if I have been running a lot of programs / switching and not restarted recently. Try a reboot.

Yeh I've rebooted many times. Just reset settings and it seems to be fixed. Just gotta customise layouts again. Lol
