Not too sure whether this is a good place to put it so I'll plonk it here, I have an iMac mid-2011:

http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-i7-3.4-27-inch-aluminum-mid-2011-thunderbolt-specs.html

Except the one I'm looking at selling has the BTO option of the 6790M with 2GB of video memory and I have since upgraded the memory in it from 4GB to 8GB (4 x 2GB sticks). It also includes AppleCare (has another 2 and a bit years left on it).

What would be an appropriate price for such a computer?

The MacBook Pro is the early 2011 model with the BTO of the high resolution screen, upgraded to 750GB HDD, and 8GB memory, plus the beefier 1GB video card:

I'd prefer to sell the iMac in Wellington but I'd be happy to ship it anywhere in New Zealand.

Edit: Forgot to mention the MacBook Pro also includes AppleCare with around 2 and a bit years left.

Reason to sell: I've had a happy decade with the Mac world but now I want to be able to game, tweak my workstation, upgrade the video card etc. So I guess the nutshell version is, "my work patterns have changed'.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I recently sold a 13" i7 2011 MBP, with 120GB SSD + 750 GB SATA both internal. Added a slimline usb dvd writer and it had 8GB memory...I got $1500 for that. I had no remaining AppleCare

With remaining AppleCare you'll get at least what I got, but probably closer to the $1850 mark.

True - the drop in value probably makes it a better option to hand it off to a family member rather than selling it - I'm avoding TradeMe like the plague simply because by the time you eventually sell it the cost of the auction is astronomical in some cases. I might end up giving my sister, brother or parents both of them as I a going to wait till Windows 8 is released, a fixed date of Office 2013 is announced and there is a refresh of products out there - although I'm tempted to wait till the Haswell refresh occurs and there is the updated integrated video card (I'm going for a UltraBook + a DIY workstation)

True lol I wish there was someway that would be possible because I'd go for it asap :D
