I have for sale the following:

1.) Onkyo TX-NR609 Home Theatre Receiver

7.2 channel home theatre receiver. 6 HDMI inputs and lots of other great features. Upgraded to a newer model so this has to go. Purchased from JB HiFi June 2011.

See here for full details http://www.eu.onkyo.com/en/products/tx-nr609-35517.html

This is pretty big and probably going to be pretty expensive to ship. However I am happy to work with a buyer to sort out the best option to ship. Have original box and packaging.

$300

2.) KEF PSW2500 Subwoofer

Kef home theatre sub. Have a baby now so never gets turned on!! Purchased July 2011 and in very good condition.

See here for full details: http://www.kef.com/html/en/showroom/hi-fi_series/classicq_series/fact_sheet/subwoofer/psw2500/index.html

Again, this is quite big and heavy but happy to assist with shipping. Have original box and packaging.

$300

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

Sorry, I should have said. I am in Central Otago (Alexandra) so shipping anywhere will probably be at least $40-50 but I am happy to drop off at a courier depot etc to get the cheapest option.

I would love that sub, my PSW2010 seems to have died on me :(

Unfortunately I need funds too so my amp is going up soon. Great price on that amp too!! Onkyo is the best bang/ buck in the world IMHO

probably the same problem as mine... and almost every other PSW2010 (C52 capacitor shredded):
http://lug.demon.co.uk/kefdoc/_How_to_replace_C52.pdf

apparently when the cutoff relay kicked in, it didn't actually turn off the amp board - just muted speaker.  the amps on these basically ran 100% of the time they were plugged in and the capacitor wore out over time to the point where it wouldn't function correctly. Note that  this is nothing to do with the infamous capacitor electrolyte IP theft saga that caused so many other capacitor related problems :)

I've just ordered a bunch of replacement caps off of amazon, if you have the same prob then I can probably send you a couple.

Not to hijack this thread but I bought the same unit from JB a few months ago. It was in their sales bin having been a customer return after the HDMI board was repaired under warranty.

The unit will have the same warranty as a new one so this seemed like a good deal (over 50% off a new unit).

Apparently it's a known problem with several Onkyo receiver models with the HDMI board failing. I had an earlier Onkyo fail with the same reason but since it was a US import I could not have it repaired free and just dumped it.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Hmmm, interesting to see this thread.

My Onkyo TX-NR609 failed today. Lost all sound output.

From reading about it, the hdmi board has failed as with most of them.

Now off to jbhifi tomorrow for what will be an argument that goes something like this....

Me: My 3 year old nr609 just died, and from reading on the internet it is probably the hdmi board has failed. Can you please fix it.

JB: Sorry sir, your unit is out of warranty.

Me: Oh, so I am not covered by the CGA?

JB: I don't think so.

At least, I've never had a retailer accept an out of warranty CGA repair claim on first request.

Had to chime in here too.
I have a 509 (not as flash) but it's HDMI board died as well, and was replaced free of charge after a little discussion with them.
Previously has a Yamaha, and to be honest I'll probably go back to one when I replace this unit.

I have not long come back up from Alexandra and this would be a great upgrade for my parents -
they got ripped off by a local store that sold them a useless all in one unit that they had no idea how to use and switch inputs etc...

They have now learned to not rely on pride and dignity in this field, the will be calling me when they upgrade next time, or if I replace my 509, I'll take that down to them and install that.

Go straight to Avalon Audio, they are honouring hdmi boards until 2018 (I think). I got the hdmi board replaced on my TX-NR515 last week, no problem. I did the replacement myself to save time but you'd be better off to get them yo do it, it's prett fiddly.

Brilliant , thanks for the info.

I found this link....

http://www.uk.onkyo.com/en/articles/customer-care-program-119261.html

I'll take that into jbhifi and that should be enough to get them to take it on without argument.

That way I can leave the packaging and transport up to them.

I have the 576 I think it is, one of the early hdmi units.
The hdmi board sits horizontal, above a nice heat source,  = awesome design.
I replaced the caps myself a few years back after it stopped syncing with the TV.
All worked again fine.

Just recently it spat some eprom error and scared us all.
Cycling the power it went away and hasn't come back.
Time for a new one me thinks, but interesting to hear about the replacement board thing.  I'll go and see if I'm on the list.

It is pretty fiddly though, not impossible, but as always with those flaky ribbon cables, it's risky if you don't have spare parts available should something break.

Up to you but the fastest way is to go direct:

Look down the bottom of the page below for the process but it took me 2 days to get it sorted directly.
