It's an Acer easyStore H340 that was refurbished by Acer into H341 - essentially, they put in a better motherboard with a hyperthreading Atom CPU. I still feel guilty that while it was away being refurbished I got myself a Synology DS - that was betrayal it didn't deserve.

Condition:

  • Cosmetics - as new. It was well cared for when it was being used, and since then it's been stored away.
  • Hardware - problem free. Boots up, and is as quiet as it's always been, the unit hasn't been really in use since it's been refurbished. One minor issue - the bottom HDD tray has the hinges of the flap broken. It doesn't affect the operation, or the look of the unit.
  • Documentation and disks - all present. I've got the original restore disk, the client software disk, and all the manuals.
  • Software - ahem. I've got the original WHS OS on a 2.5'' HDD. Don't ask me why, I'm guessing that was the HDD I had lying around at the time, so that's what they used to mirror it onto. Problem is - even though the server boots up and all, I haven't managed to log into it. I think the problem is between the chair and the computer, but don't have the time to start looking into it.
  • I also have the original Hitachi 1TB HDD that came with the server, and a Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB HDD that I believe I've used with it at some stage. I'll check the condition of both and post here if there is any interest.
Please note - first come first served, "as is" basis.
If you're outside of Auckland and can't pick up - I can ship to you, but you cover the costs.

I'll answer any questions in this thread, but if you've decided you want it - Please PM me.

Ok looks like we've got a winner. You know who you are. If the winner changes his mind I'll be in touch with the second in the queue and so on.

Thanks for the box kookoo.
I've managed to get WHS to boot a few times, I just need to reset the passwords before I can use it however. A job for the weekend.
Sometimes it just doesn't boot at all with the fan stuck on full speed. have you seen this before? No worries can't complain with a small issue when it's free

thanks again

Yes I've seen this happen when using the 2.5" hdd because it's too small for the bay. If you don't push it in all the way it doesn't boot, or can easily detach from the SATA connector. That's why I was keen to move the OS onto the 1TB Seagate drive, but just couldn't get it to work.
If it's the 1TB hdd you're having the issue with its probably worth formatting it and starting from scratch. I don't think I formatted it correctly for it to be a bootable disk. For example, when I'd chuck the 2.5 disk into my ezswap bay and reboot, the desktop would try to boot from it. But if I chuck in the Seagate it would mount normally but wouldn't treat it as a bootable drive.

Ok managed to get it working.
Seems it can get stuck in recovery and without the special cable to see what son screen it's a mission to fix.
So i took a chance and removed the cmos battery and it manged to boot WHS.

I'm now running an evaluation of Server 2012R2 to see how that works. Thanks very much!

Nicely done. I didn't even realise you can run Server 2012 on it. Glad it worked out for you!
