Is that the bit of hardware that joins two ati crossfire gfx cards together?

It sounds like you have moding plans.  Do you want to share what they are?

Because you would have one it you brought a crossfire supported gfx card or motherboard.

My one still feels  wanted,  until I have two.

Well no plans for Modding as it were just one of the cards is new A Gecube Radeon HD2600XT and because said company are cheap ******** they don't provide one in the box now the other one is second hand an Asus Radeon HD2600XT and we all know asus are a little more expensive than most and for good reason they give you lots in the box namely one crossfire bridge interconnect now my problem starts here only one bridge connector means no 16x crossfire only 8x so now i'm on the hunt for one more but its a very stealthy quarry

No i need one as i already have one which came with the Asus card but there are two connection tabs on both cards by using only one connector it becomes PCI-e 8x crossfire so i need one more to make it run in PCI-e 16X crossfire mode here i'll explain better

the interconnects provide one 16 lane bus path which equate to 8 lanes transmit and 8 lanes receive

so by using two interconnectors you get a full 16 lane bus going both ways 16 lanes transmit and 16 lanes receive

well no it does work just not as well as it would as if you had two sorta like the difference between running ram in single channel mode as opposed to duel channel mode which increases the total read write bandwidth by allowing you to read from two dimms at once so by using two interconnects you get a duel path that both cards can read and write to at the same time decreasing the bottle neck and wait times for information exchange between the two
