I don't like your chances. What about a Sata drive and an IDE/SATA adapter? http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/components/hard-drives/other/auction-1123379288.htm

I've a Caviar Blue 500Gb here, manufactured 2010.  It was working when I turned it off about a year ago, I'll test it & wipe it though before handing it over

Same model as this one : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136111

Make me an offer, I guess?

I tried one of those adapters in my old gen xbox for a drive upgrade to be able to put more roms and dodgey games on it. Seems to have many freezing issues that friends with IDE drives didnt have. Not sure if it was the adapter board or the drive or what but it was not good.

$20 pick up?  I work in Takapuna and the CBD during the week.  Let me know if you are keen and I will erase + test.  If you want it formatted let me know what FS you want, I can do that for you too while I've got a rig set up.
