new ones have optical replaced with a micro sd reader on the back, which is way more use to most people. Also new one has a slightly better remote compared to the old one.

The 4k on the new one is just HDMI 1.4, no HDR, no 50/60fps output. Still required HDCP2.2 to get 4k, but it will at least back down from 30 to 24Hz automatically for things that are 4k. It calls that "optimizing 4k playback" onscreen.

The old one is fine, no real reason to go for the new one. If 4k is important to you then it will not satisfy, and if its not then the old one does everything fine.

Yep mine arrived yesterday as well. Many thanx. Will have to wait a day or two as my Ethernet Of Power unit by the HT gear died sometime on Saturday nite. Awaiting a replacement from PB Tech.
