Be careful buying online, lots of these keys will be from fraudulent MSDN / bizspark / dreamspark accounts. Just because the key activates doesn't make it genuine. When the account gets detected by Microsoft the key will likely be blacklisted.

What @chevrolux is really saying with that pretty amusing link is the fact using Windows 8 is not recommended given Windows 10 is a free upgrade to it (and unpatched Windows 8 / 8.1 installations were affected by Wannacry). If you're in need of a key you're best to buy Windows 10 straight from the Microsoft Store. It is technically against the Microsoft terms and conditions to resell a once used key.

Buying a key from eBay is also not recommended as I've seen plenty of sellers who are quite happy to sell either a pirated or dubious key. Always stick to new if possible.

agreed, seems like OP was looking for a quick alternative route for a license rather than through a channel.

I have purchased plenty (30+) from Kinguin (win 7 and 10) with no issues .

Having said that why wouldn't you just get a Win10 key and skip the pain and suffering that comes with using 8.1

and yet

Want genuine : then buy from MS or PBTech etc .
want dodgy, buy some used key off someone or from some overseas seller .

If its for a reinstall on a laptop (just a guess), the key should be embedded in the bios . That key can be extracted & manually
entered in a reinstall if it isnt automatically detected/entered
