Hey guys, got some ex business servers available (we retired a bunch of servers from work). Figured geekzone would likely be the place where people may have an interest. They are several years old but still in good working order (e.g. 5 - 6 years at a guess).

  • 2 x IBM x3650 M3
  • 2 x IBM x3650 M4

They're 2U form factor. I'll have to fire one up to see exactly what hardware they're running, but they're basically dual CPU Xeons. The m4s being slightly newer than the m3, 2012 era I believe. I believe one m4 has 64 GB and the other 32GB memory. They are still quite usable for running VMWare etc. They don't have much disk in them though, they were being used with a SAN.

Also got a couple of QNAPs if anyones interested, though I still need to zero off the data on them, so may be a few weeks before they are available.

  • QNAP TS-809U NAS
  • QNAP NAS TS-879U-RP

Only looking for nominal cost, as they are better to be used than recycled at this point. If anyone's interested let me know and I will find out more on the specs. I am based on Palmerston North. Also listed a Fortigate 60D on trademe if anyone is interested in playing with one of those - 20 bucks.

How much are you looking for the M4s?  VMware have now dumped westmere and older class LGA1366 CPUs so 6.7 needs sandybridge or higher hence asking... Its a homelab stuff but haven't found a way around it!

I'd be keen to see what the TS-879U-RP is priced at, with shipping to Auckland.

Cheers

Keen on 1 of each, I have a x3650 M3 with dead mobo in my home lab that needs replacing and I wouldn't mind an x3650 m4 to replace one of my more ancient machines (x3650 m2 and an DL580 G5!). Am down in Kapiti so easy enough to drive up and collect.
